Check-in
The front desk marks a patient as arrived, confirms their forms are in, and the clinician sees it on the schedule — no names called across a room, no clipboard.
The appointment is on the schedule already. Check-in marks the patient arrived, shows whether their forms have come back, and puts that in front of the clinician without anybody walking down a corridor.
A tablet in a waiting room is another device to buy, clean, charge and secure, and it holds patient information in the least controlled room in the building. Check-in happens on the machines the practice already has.
