Plastic and cosmetic surgery

The surgery takes three hours. The post-surgical care takes a year.

Clinic workflow

A cosmetic patient meets the practice at a consult, decides over weeks, signs more consent than any other patient in medicine, and then comes back six, eight, ten times while a result settles. LogBlues keeps that whole arc on one record: the photos, the quote, the consents, the implant details and every post-op visit, without pretending a cosmetic surgeon’s practice is a med spa.

Setup

A surgeon, a patient coordinator, a nurse, and a calendar with two kinds of days.

The practice chooses Plastic and cosmetic surgery. Services open with the procedures a cosmetic practice actually quotes: blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty, breast augmentation and lift, abdominoplasty (the tummy tuck), liposuction, facelift, fat grafting, scar revision, with injectables and fillers as cash-pay lines beside them. Consult days and surgery days sit on the same schedule; pre-op and post-op visits are booked as a series, not one at a time.

From start to finish

One rhinoplasty, from first email to final photo.

A patient writes after seeing the practice online. The coordinator books a consult, sends the intake and photo-consent forms ahead, and the patient arrives with the paperwork done. In the room the surgeon takes standard photos, talks through the plan and enters the procedure, the anesthesia and the facility time as services. The quote prints from those lines. The patient goes home with a number, a consent packet to read, and a task on the coordinator’s list to follow up in a week.

She says yes. The deposit is invoiced and paid, surgery day is booked, and the pre-op series appears with it: labs, anesthesia evaluation, the medication-stop list, the final consent signing. Each is a task with a name on it. On surgery day the nurse records the implant or graft details on the visit and pulls the garment from inventory. Then the post-op series runs for six months, every visit with its own photo, until the after picture is taken and the case is closed.

The work

What happens in LogBlues.

  • The consult produces a written quote, not a verbal number, built from the services and prices the practice set, so the coordinator and the surgeon quote the same figure.
  • Before photos go on the record the day they are taken, with photo consent signed on the same visit, so an after photo months later has something honest to sit beside.
  • Surgical, anesthesia and photo consent are separate forms, each signed, dated and attached to the procedure they cover, because one signature line for all three is how a practice loses an argument.
  • Pre-op work becomes tasks with owners, labs ordered, anesthesia evaluation booked, medications to stop, a deposit collected, each one checked off before surgery day is confirmed.
  • Implant and lot details are recorded on the visit, and the implants themselves are counted in inventory by size, with compression garments, drains and dressings beside them.
  • Post-surgical care is a series, not a hope, day one, week one, week six, month three, month six: booked when surgery is booked, each with its own note and photo, with the post-surgical garment and drain care written where the nurse will see them.
  • Cash pay is the rule; insurance is the exception, a cosmetic quote is invoiced and paid in stages, and the occasional reconstructive case can still carry a diagnosis code and a claim.
  • When a patient writes with a worry at 9 p.m., Blues drafts the reply from their chart, and the surgeon reads it, changes what they like, and sends it in the morning.

What changes

A surgeon’s practice is not a spa with an operating room.

Plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery are not the same thing. A plastic surgery practice does reconstructive work, after cancer, after trauma, for a child born with a cleft, alongside elective cosmetic operations. A cosmetic surgery center is usually outpatient and elective: facelifts, liposuction, tummy tucks, breast surgery. LogBlues puts both on one page and one clinic type on purpose, because many cosmetic surgeons also do plastic surgery procedures, and the record they need is the same: consent in layers, a quote, pre-op tasks, implant details, and long post-surgical care.

Med spa software is built around a treatment that ends when the patient leaves. Cosmetic surgery is built around a decision that takes weeks, a day that takes hours, and a recovery that takes months, with consent and photographs at every step.

LogBlues gives that arc a spine: the quote, the consents, the pre-op tasks, the implant details and the post-op series all live on the same patient record, on the practice’s own computer.

The coordinator sees where every prospective patient stands. The surgeon sees the whole story before walking into the room. The patient never repeats it.
